Low Volume CNC Machining Services
Precision CNC milling and turning for prototypes, pilot runs and small-batch production. Get machined aluminum, steel, stainless steel, brass and plastic parts made from your drawings — without the high MOQ of mass-production factories.
Upload Your DrawingWhatsApp UsWhat Is Low Volume CNC Machining?
Low volume CNC machining is the production of custom machined parts in quantities from a single prototype up to a few thousand pieces. Because CNC machining needs no hard tooling, it is the most cost-effective way to make functional metal and plastic parts when quantities are too small to justify casting, forging or injection molds.
At Zhufeng Precision we set up every job for small quantities: programs are written from your 3D model, fixtures are kept simple and setups are optimized so that a 5-piece order or a 200-piece order can be quoted fairly.
Best suited for
- Engineering prototypes and functional testing
- Pilot runs and pre-production batches
- Bridge production before molds are ready
- Spare and replacement parts in low quantities
- Custom brackets, housings, shafts, flanges and fixtures
CNC Machining Capabilities
CNC Milling
3-axis and multi-axis milling for housings, plates, brackets, manifolds, heat sinks and complex pockets.
CNC Turning
Shafts, pins, bushings, spacers, threaded connectors and round parts with internal and external threads.
Secondary Operations
Drilling, tapping, knurling, thread inserts, deburring and assembly.
Tolerances
Standard machining tolerance per ISO 2768-m. Tighter tolerances on critical features are available after drawing review — please mark them on your drawing.
Materials for CNC Machined Parts
Choose from common engineering metals and plastics. If your drawing specifies a different grade, tell us — we source many materials on request.
| Category | Common materials |
|---|---|
| Aluminum | 6061-T6, 6063, 7075-T6, 5052, 2024 |
| Stainless steel | 303, 304, 316, 17-4PH |
| Steel | Mild steel (Q235), 45# / 1045, 40Cr, tool steel |
| Copper alloys | Brass H59 / C360, copper |
| Plastics | POM (Delrin), ABS, PC, Nylon PA6, PMMA, PP, PEEK, PTFE |
Surface finishes include anodizing (clear, black, color, hard), sandblasting, brushing, polishing, powder coating, zinc / nickel plating, passivation, black oxide and laser marking.
How We Quote Small CNC Orders
The price of a low-volume CNC part depends on three things: material and stock size, machining time, and setup time. In small batches, setup and programming are a larger share of the cost, so we focus on reducing setups and suggesting design changes that save machining time.
- Do you accept 5 or 20 pieces? Yes. Quantities from 1 piece are quoted. A minimum order charge may apply to very small orders and is shown on the quote.
- Will the unit price drop with quantity? Yes — we can quote several quantity breaks (e.g. 10 / 50 / 200 pcs) so you can plan budget.
- Can you continue after the prototype? Yes. Once approved, the same programs and fixtures are reused for OEM batch production.

Frequently Asked Questions
What quantity counts as low volume CNC machining?
Generally from 1 to around 5,000 pieces. We regularly machine prototype quantities of 1–10 pcs and production batches of a few hundred to a few thousand pieces.
What file formats do you need for a CNC quote?
A 3D model (STEP/STP, IGES, X_T) plus a 2D drawing (PDF or DWG) with tolerances, threads and finish. A 3D model alone is enough for a budget quote.
What tolerances can you hold?
Standard tolerance follows ISO 2768-m. Tighter tolerances can be achieved on critical features after our engineer reviews your drawing; please mark them clearly.
Which materials can you CNC machine?
Aluminum, stainless steel, carbon steel, brass, copper and engineering plastics such as POM, ABS, PC, Nylon, PMMA and PEEK.
How long does low volume CNC machining take?
Lead time depends on part complexity, quantity and finishing. Simple prototypes are often finished within a few working days; we confirm the exact lead time on every quote.
Have a Drawing? Let’s Review Your Project.
Send your PDF, STEP or DWG file with quantity and material. An engineer reviews every drawing and replies with a quotation and DFM suggestions — usually within 24 hours.
