Before Production

  • Drawing revision confirmed in writing
  • Critical-to-function dimensions highlighted
  • Material grade and certificate requirement agreed
  • Finish, color standard and cosmetic surfaces defined
  • Inspection method and sample size agreed

First Article Inspection (FAI)

For new parts, ask for a first article: one or a few parts measured fully against the drawing before the batch. Approve it with photos and a dimensional report, or have the sample shipped to you.

During Production

  • In-process checks on critical dimensions
  • Tool wear monitoring on long runs
  • Separation of conforming and non-conforming parts
